Update log (1)

Some forms belong to no single job. Every Schedule C filer meets the same estimated-tax worksheet, the same Schedule SE, and the same forks — home office, mileage, retirement — whichever job sent them to the form. In the catalogue those articles live inside job hubs; they are listed once here, grouped by the form every job files.

Estimated taxes — Form 1040-ES

  1. 1
    Calculating Quarterly Estimated Taxes 2026: A Realtor's Form 1040-ES Walkthrough Article 1 · Core line: Form 1040-ES (2026), line 15

The 2026 Estimated Tax Worksheet read line by line: each payment is line 15 — line 14a divided by four, minus any 2025 overpayment applied to that installment — and the payments are later claimed on Form 1040, line 26.

  2. 2
Solo Creator, First Income in October 2026: Form 2210 and the Annualized Worksheet Article 4 · Core line: Schedule AI (Form 2210), line 27 — annualized income installment; entered on Form 2210, Part III, line 10

Form 2210 and Schedule AI, the annualized worksheet: each period recomputed from the income actually received by that period's cutoff, for a year whose income arrived after due dates had already passed.

  3. 3
Safe Harbor Estimated Taxes 2026: The Fourth Payment, for Freelance Designers Article 11 · Core line: Publication 505 (2026), Worksheet 2-1, line 12c

Worksheet 2-1's safe-harbor comparison — line 12c, the smaller of 90 percent of the 2026 tax and 100 percent of the 2025 tax (110 percent when 2025 adjusted gross income exceeded $150,000) — and the fourth installment, due January 15, 2027.

Self-employment tax — Schedule SE

  1. 1
Self-Employment Tax 2026, Line by Line: Where It Is Figured — Schedule SE, Line 12 Article 2 · Core line: Schedule SE (Form 1040) (2026), line 12

Schedule SE read line by line: net profit from Schedule C, line 31, the 92.35 percent factor, the $400 gate at line 4c, and the tax at line 12, sent to Schedule 2, line 4 — half of it deducted on Schedule 1, line 15.

Income no form reports — Schedule C, line 1

  1. 1
Do I Have to Report Income Without a 1099? (2026) Article 3 · Core line: Schedule C (Form 1040) (2026 draft), line 1 — gross receipts or sales

Schedule C, line 1 is built from your own records: business income is reported whether or not a 1099 arrives — the $2,000 figure is the payer's test for whether the form gets printed, never the filer's test for whether income counts.

The forks every job meets

  1. 1
Freelance Designer Home Office 2026: Simplified Method vs Form 8829 — Schedule C Line 30 Article 9 · Core line: Schedule C (Form 1040) (2026), line 30 — expenses for business use of your home

Schedule C, line 30's two printed doors: the simplified method — $5 per square foot, up to 300 square feet and a $1,500 maximum — and the regular method, figured on Form 8829 from the home's actual expenses.

  2. 2
Realtor Car Expenses 2026: The Split Mileage Rate on Schedule C Line 9 Article 10 · Core line: Schedule C (Form 1040) (2026), line 9 — car and truck expenses; with Part IV, lines 43–47b

Schedule C, line 9 built from miles, at 2026's split rate — 72.5 cents a mile for January through June, 76 cents for July through December — with the miles split three ways in Part IV: business, commuting, and other.

  3. 3
Solo 401k vs SEP IRA 2026: A Freelance Designer's Two Builds to One Line Article 13 · Core line: Schedule 1 (Form 1040) (2026 draft), line 16

The SEP and the solo 401(k) read side by side in Publication 560: both deductions land on Schedule 1, line 16, built from the same net-earnings base — and the plans part on the calendar.

  4. 4
Form 2553 Deadline 2026: The 2 Months and 15 Days Rule, Read From the Instructions Article 12 · Core line: Form 2553, line E

Form 2553 read from its own instructions: the election deadline — no more than 2 months and 15 days after the beginning of the tax year, or at any time during the preceding tax year — and the late-election relief procedure the instructions print.

Page published. The nine cross-job articles are listed once, grouped by the shared form or mechanic; each one-line description is drawn from that article's own short answer, and each title and core line from the article itself. The articles keep their homes in their job hubs — this page is the second door to them.
